Revolutions often creep up on an industry. This is no different from what is currently happening in the moped industry.

The Ebike killed the Moped delivery star.

While the electric cars stumble into existence with range anxiety and a nascent and challenging charging network. The internal combustion engine moped commonly used with delivery drivers in the urban environment is a category perfectly posed to be disrupted by E bikes.

These ebikes generally fall into the micromobility category of being below the power and speed threshold of a taxable moped. With the power charging from mains battery both quick and easy. It is no wonder that Ebike firms now have the internal combustion engine moped category  for deliveries firmly in their strategic sights.

Different bike firms have taken different strategies. From Swappable batteries to fully intergrated support solutions for fleets.

All with the same goal in mind.  To have a steak in this revolution and the spoils it will bring.

HumanForest, the free floating London ebike fleet, has offered commercial credit in London for delivery drivers.

Zoomo with their black and white livery and subscription model for delivery firms raised 60 Million dollars late in 2021.

They have just gone further and have launched this week a high performance version of their utility bike. Doubling down on their grocery delivery driver offering.

While critically this ebike fall into the UK's ICE Moped definition. Thus will need MOT maintenance and a CBT licence to be ridden here in the UK. All of the current Moped delivery drivers fall into this category.

With an assistance pedal speed of 45kmh and a 60K carrying capacity and a 1Kwh swappable battery.

Features now common in high end Ebikes will bring the Ebike into the ICE Moped delivery category.

With far less maintenance being electric powered, no exhaust pipe fumes and almost no noise. The ICE moped will likely not exist on the UK roads within the next 2 years.
